Continuing the cat painting

So we had a hurricane and Internet connectivity issues, now I am able to show the next step where I work on the fur to get it to look furry with the sheen on it.

Cat Painting – what I did next.

Here I have continued to add darker tones in the blue part by using an almost black color. In the areas of white fur I have added darker color where the shadows are. This is on a beige velour paper.Tuxedo Cat

I started a cat painting

a "Tuxedo Cat"

a “Tuxedo Cat”

This is on velour paper for pastel painting and I have started by using a light color of pastel to outline the main features of the cat. Then I started the background colors going from dark to light.

Down by the Sea

My friend Helen Turner said,”I am a seeker of the peaceful moment, an unspoiled sandy beach, a quiet walk in the woods. The closer look at a beautiful bloom inspires me to translate the folding shades of color, to stop time forever, on paper. The pastel medium is an immediate pleasure to an impulsive artist,” and I agree. Looking closely at a bloom, or sitting by the ocean translating the view into paint strokes is my muse.2007_07Reed'sBaypleinair I painted this boat several years ago and saw it again anchored in the same place as when I painted it. Once I have sat and observed for the time needed to paint it I would recognize it anywhere.
