Down by the Sea

My friend Helen Turner said,”I am a seeker of the peaceful moment, an unspoiled sandy beach, a quiet walk in the woods. The closer look at a beautiful bloom inspires me to translate the folding shades of color, to stop time forever, on paper. The pastel medium is an immediate pleasure to an impulsive artist,” and I agree. Looking closely at a bloom, or sitting by the ocean translating the view into paint strokes is my muse.2007_07Reed'sBaypleinair I painted this boat several years ago and saw it again anchored in the same place as when I painted it. Once I have sat and observed for the time needed to paint it I would recognize it anywhere.
