The Wailoa Center in Hilo Hawaii had an art competition. The Animal Companions Feathered and Furred show was well received and this was the First place prize winning painting.
To make the painting I used a warm and cool underpainting as I did when learning to make the Snow Leopard. The background was done with two colors as it would sometimes in a watercolor painting but this was with pastel on a new paper called Pastelmat. Then the fur was slowly put on with fur like strokes and the beautiful eye made to look right at me.
