Wai ka Milo is a story that takes place in Hilo, Hawaii. An old woman caught a turtle, brought it to her home by the Wailuku River and turned it over until she could prepare it for eating. Later that day a small child poked the turtle with a stick and hurt its eye. That night in the womans dream she saw a beautiful young woman with an inflamed eye. She implored her to let her go, back to the river where she lived. And so it was that when the woman awoke the next morning she let the akua named Wai ka Milo go free once more.
